Karşıyaka Disable Sports Club played on the field under sponsorship of Izmir University for the first time and finished the league with a win. The team rivaled Bornova Peace Team who guaranteed a play-off, and finished the league in third place with a score of 60-47. Izmir University has done something unprecedented by sponsoring the disabled basketball team.

The KES Basketball Team which was founded on 1999 signed a sponsorship agreement with Izmir University a short while ago.  The club founder, board member and team player Erdal Denizaslanı mentioned that Izmir University’s sponsorship means a lot for them and said: “We are a team which played play-off three times and finished the league in third place for the third time since 1999.  We hope that we will even be more successful with the sponsorship of Izmir University. Being the first disabled basketball club sponsored by a university is a source of pride for us. We wish that this initiative will set an example for other state and private universities. We currently lack facilities and we need more support from fans. We aim to rise to the first league with the support of Izmir University.”
