Dear All,

We founded Doğanata Education and Culture Foundation about fifteen years ago.  Principle aim of our Foundation was working for the common good of our country, by expanding the scope of our successes, we realized in the fields of primary and secondary school educations for 43 years, to higher education level. I regret witnessing most of our talented young people’s failure in entrance to the university, after such a long educational survey and I started to look forward for a solution. In this respect, I thought that it shall be an ideal and a duty of us doing our best for creating a new higher educational chance.

After a marathon of more than ten years, we managed to reach an end and eventually we attained our purpose on the 18th of May 2007. Doğanata Education and Culture Foundation gained the foundation authorization through the law of Turkish Grand National Assembly and the consent of President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. İzmir University, which is established through a strenuous work, is opening its doors to you, young people as of 2008-2009 Academic Year. To put a new university on our country is one of the happiest events I have ever had in my life.

IZMIR UNIVERSITY has opened its doors as of 2008-2009 academic year, with the quality and features beseeming you. From now on, our principle goal is making this university one of the greatest universities in the world and in our country, both with its academic staff devoted to science and education, and its quality worthy to your praise.

I believe that you are at least as talented as the young people living in developed countries of the world. I have never had doubt that we would develop our country by standing shoulder to shoulder as whole nation and find contemporary civilization standards which Atatürk showed as target from its all aspect; as long as we work steadily and consciously. I am sure that greatest scientists, economists, sociologists, legists and others, who will widely contribute to our country, will become among you. I trust in all young people, who will come up through IZMIR UNIVERSITY, which is established by Doğanata Education and Culture Foundation, will honor and be the glory of our nation.

Briefly, I want to express my confidence in necessity of gaining the right of having higher education if a person wants to do so and our thoughts and believe while establishing IZMIR UNIVERSITY. I believe that our university will afford to great services which beseems to our nation with the help of your successes and works. I offer my warmest welcome and I wish happiness and success to all.
